Research Experience

Graduate Research Assistant, California Institute of Technology. (Aug 2018 - present). Involved with two projects: (1) studying the Martian paleoclimate with a 1D coupled photochemistry-radiative transfer model; (2) using Kepler and K2 optical phase curves + a GCM model to study exoplanet atmospheres.

Research Data Analyst, Space Sciences Laboratory/UC Berkeley. (May 2016-July 2018). With MAVEN data, I used Mars’ magnetic topology to study the structure and sources of the planet’s nightside ionosphere.

Undergraduate Research Apprentice Program, UC Berkeley. (Jan 2018-July 2018). Applied a microphysical model of aggregate hazes to study the effect on exoplanet spectra; compared model results to HST and Spitzer observations of GJ 1214b.

Teaching Experience

Reader - UC Berkeley Astro C12 (Spring 2018). Prepare and teach 30 minute weekly discussion sections. Co-leader for TALC (3 hour discussion session for group work). Attended weekly GSI meetings, and wrote midterm and final exam questions. Graded exams, weekly HWs, and final observing projects.

Volunteer TA - MLK Middle (Spring 2017). Assisted in 8th grade algebra class, and led two 1-hour classes (prepared and presented lecture and corresponding activities).

Volunteer TA - Brightworks School (Fall 2016). Assisted in BWASA (Brightworks Aeronautics and Space Administration). Helped students in NASA-realted activities, where they learned about spacecraft communication, human space exploration, and the scientific method while learning about Mars’s climatic history.

Volunteer TA - Emerson Elementary (Spring 2016). Co-taught an after school program for kindergarteners to learn about physical and mental health.

Math Tutor - Napa Valley College’s Math Center (2014-2015). Tutored all math courses through Calculus II on a drop-in and appointment basis.
